Our journey to England

What an experience! Some Students from 4b report on their trip to England from March 13th until March 20th, 2024.

On March 13th our long awaited journey to England finally started. Together with our teachers Ms Oberndorfer, Ms Trojacher and Ms Berger we took the bus to Vienna Airport and at 2 p.m. our flight to London Heathrow Airport took off. For some of us it was the first flight ever! The journey to England was quite long but in the end we made it safely to Eastbourne. We were nervous and excited to meet our host families who picked us up at the meeting point in Eastbourne. Fortunately, our host parents were very nice and we spent our first evening in England eating dinner, talking, and getting to know each other.

On the second day we spent the morning at the local language centre where we attended lessons on British culture, customs, and practised speaking. After that we took a guided tour around Eastbourne, where we learned about the history of the city, saw some important buildings, and had fun at the beach. Then we were allowed to explore the city on our own.

On the third day we took the train to Brighton and visited the Royal Pavilion which was quite impressive. We ended the day with shopping and a visit to a British coffee shop before returning back home to Eastbourne.

On the fourth day we finally went to London! We saw all the important sights like Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Convert Garden and spent our lunch break in China Town.

On Sunday we went to London again and spent almost the entire Day at Camden Market. There was A LOT going on there. It was crazy but we loved it!

On the sixth day we took the train to Hastings and visited Hastings Castle, learned about the smugglers there, and went to the Hastings Aquarium.

On Tuesday we went to an arcade and played a round of bowling and some of us even played Lasertag. That was fun!

On Wednesday we had to go back home. A bus brought us to London Heathrow Airport and after a long journey we arrived back home in Dobl at 9:30 p.m.

What a week! Our favorite days were the ones we spent in London. Overall, it was an amazing trip and we loved it!
